When I read today on slashdot that IBM are taking Watson, the super computer that spanked people at Jeopardy, and use it for healthcare, I grinned. I hate doctors.
Soon I won’t have to deal with those incompetent, overpaid, and obnoxious doctors. I’ll waste my time no more in your waiting room. My appointment was at 8 am, it is 10 am now, and you’re still not here. Your assistant tells me you are with a patient, but then I see you pulling in the parking lot. There is a golf bag on the passenger seats of your Bentley. I hate doctors.
Soon, I’ll sit down in my own house. I’ll use a device to take my vitals hooked up to my computer. It will have access to all my medical history. It will have the world’s medical knowledge in ram. It will use that knowledge to come up with the right diagnostic, in seconds not weeks. It will be fast, effective and cheap. I love computers.
No hard feelings doc. You are just obsolete. I am sure McDonalds can put your education to good use cleaning the bathrooms. There, you will be in good company amongst stock brokers, business analysts, and office workers. You will be like the rest of us, obsolete.
